Culture and Local Business

Drive down any main boulevard in the United States and you’re bound to see the usual suspects. You know who I’m talking about; the same big box stores, the same fast food or kitschy restaurants, and the same grocery stores. People enjoy familiarity and that’s what they get from this uniform street from Anytown, USA. The cost of all this is that you don’t see a whole lot of local business anywhere near or anywhere at all for that matter. And local business is part of what makes up the culture of an area, a city, and a neighborhood. With the local business ran out of town by familiarity, every town and city is looking just about as familiar.
